Angry protests
calling for a deal to free the captives
erupted
in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem late Monday
as families of hostages held in Gaza and anti-government activists took to the streets to
rally against the government’s rejection of a Hamas ceasefire offer.
Police forces twice dispersed hundreds of protesters blocking traffic on Tel Aviv’s Ayalon highway,
with demonstrators banging drums, blowing on bullhorns, and lighting fires.

The rationals being put forth by Alito and Kav on SCOTUS strike me as "coddling" of a President on some vague presumption that lack of such coddling would affect how a President exercises its powers.
That is a silly argument - normally it would be answered if you are afraid of the consequences of doing X than do not do X.
However, to the extent that it has a minute molecule of merit, that argument suggests that everyone in the chain of Presidential succession also dese…

Sometimes "couch philosophers" join in a debate.
Usually, these are the people who don't know shit on the subject at hand. Their knowledge is basically what they just came up with. Their authority is based on the fact that they've read, or heard, something, somewhere, at some point in time. Even if it weren't complete tabloid class bullshit, they've usually only skimmed over it, without true comprehension or understanding the context, forgot most of it, and filled all these blanks with whatever fitted their world view.
They enjoy indifference, since the topic in question doesn't really concern them, and they call it "an open mind". They don't try to understand the emotions of the other person, that is directly troubled by the issue at hand. All they care about is discussing for the sake of it. Sometimes they actually enjoy when the debate turns into a shitstorm, when they manage to trigger an emotional response, and they gloat in their "alpha male" "superiority".
There's no point in talking to these people. You need to recognize the symptoms quickly, and ban them. Every counterargument is giving them satisfaction that they've triggered an answer, that they've got everyone's attention on them. The best you can do is take away the possibility of further participation from them.

Leadership at NBC raced to contain an escalating revolt on Monday as some of the country’s best-known television anchors took the extraordinary step of criticizing their network on its own airwaves for hiring Ronna McDaniel, the former chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, as a political analyst.
One by one, MSNBC stars lined up to berate their bosses on live television.
Rachel Maddow, the biggest star and highest-rated anchor at MSNBC, opened her 9 p.m. show with a 2…
